We first saw Nikki Bedi in 1996 when she was presenting her NIKKI TONIGHT chat show and were immediately smitten! She's a wonderfully funny, cheeky, very provocative, super sexy and quite beautiful presenter with a unique style who has continued to keep us thoroughly entertained in the years since NIKKI TONIGHT. We've gathered together our collection of press cuttings, pictures and video clips of Nikki which we are now so happy to be able to share with other fans.
You'll find on this site some fantastic photos of Nikki spanning her presenting career from the earliest shows we could find, BOMBAY CHAT, a series made in 1994 for Channel 4, through to her most recent work on TV presenting for BBC2's DESI DNA and of course anything we can find from the fantastic arts, culture and entertainment radio show NIKKI BEDI which she presents every weekday for the BBC Asian Network. (You can hear her show on Digital Radio or Freeview TV in the UK, or on the web elswhere in the world, it's on every weekday morning from 10.00 - 12.00)
We've lots of stuff from the time between BOMBAY CHAT and now too. Some great photos from NIKKI TONIGHT, the chat show which ended up causing significant controversy (and was in fact pulled of the air) following a guest, Ashok Row Kavi, repeating a story of how he once wrote something inappropriate about Gandhi. The remark caused such a furore, with Star TV, and Nikki ending up in a great deal of trouble. There is lots about the controversy on the web, much of which innacurately suggests that Nikki somehow "egged on" her guest to be controversial. We've had the show on video since it aired and it's quite clear from the clip, which you can see by clicking here, that, not only did Nikki ask a straightforward question, but that she was taken aback by the remark, which anyway was merely a repetition of something printed years previously in a newspaper article! A lot of fuss over nothing and the end of a brilliant and funny chat show. The best of the articles about the controversy appears in the book, Gandhi Meets Primetime, written by Shanti Kumar and published in the U.S. by The University of Illinois Press.
Nikki appeared to go quiet after that, apparently moving to LA for a while, however we do have photos from her appearence in the mini series WE ARE ANGELS and some video clips from the show here. She reappeared with a vengence in the UK though in 2000, with a range of appearences from THE WRIGHT STUFF on channel 5, THE LAST WORD on ITV, a series of movie programmes for the internet broadcaster NOW and the brilliant Universal movie news series THE STUDIO NEWS which she presented for a couple of years and which earned her a Cable TV Awards nomination in the Favourite Presenter catagory. We have some great photos from all of these appearences and will have video clips from some here too.
Nikki began radio broadcasting in 2004 primarily for the BBC Asian Network, although she has appeared on LBC, RADIO 4 and 5LIVE on several occasions. Her first regular show was the weekend morning show HOT BREAKFAST in 2004 which was followed by the weekday afternoon show DRIVE WITH NIKKI BEDI in 2005. As her popularity increased, the BBC Asian Network clearly recognised what a superb presenter they had and created her a show of her own called NIKKI BEDI . This fantastic show was an arts, culture and entertainment based magazine programme featuring movie and music reviews together with interviews with leading figures from the arts and entertainment world.
Nikki has recently been presenting the BBC 1 series TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY on British television as well as appearing regularly on BBC Radio 2 hosting various shows. She is a regular on BBC Radio 4's LOOSE ENDS and has her own show each night of the week on BBC Radio London.
Peace and love
